Why the Drive2Survive?
From very early on in the WCDAI lobby campaign, it was obvious to us, the committee, that little was known about the chauffeur drive industry, let alone the WCDAI.
From our great exposure on Morning Ireland on the 5th of June, our lobby campaign stepped up a gear as we finally got a national platform to tell the Government, tourism stakeholders and the general public how badly hit our sector was. In interviews with Morning Ireland and on RTE’s Nine O’Clock News, our members described the nature of our business, but most importantly highlighted how we act as a conduit to all the small tourism businesses in rural Ireland. We bring visitors from Irish airports to all the towns and villages in rural Ireland where SMEs like ours are now hurting and concerned for their futures.
The Drive2Surive is an act of solidarity with all businesses that would be otherwise open and trading at this time of year, viable tourism businesses like ours that bring so much to the Irish Tourism Industry.
We meet in Killarney, Co Kerry the tourism capital of Ireland not to protest, but to show the Government and decision makers that we need our voices to be heard, to be listened to and to be supported as part of the July economic stimulus package before it’s too late.
How can you support us?
We need to message to get to the people that can help so by sharing our story on Twitter and use the hastag #Drive2Survive to follow our progress up the Wild Atlantic Way.
#Drive2Survive linking Irish Tourism for 70 years starting out tomorrow morning in Killarney to Donegal 3 days, Supporting all our industry partners.
